Get your pens, pencils, drawings, props and costumes together for the Chesterfield Authors’ and Storytelling Contest. This year we have added two additional categories to our contest and made one change – you can only enter in two of the five categories of the contest. If you enter more than two entries, all of your entries will be disqualified.

The mission of our contest is to encourage community members of all ages to write and share their original stories and poetry through a contest format. The contest is open to all Chesterfield residents from 1st grade to Adults.
This year we have the following categories: Poetry, Non-Fiction, Fiction, Stories in Cartoon Format, and Storytelling. Deadline for entries are January 31st. All entries must be received by that date at the Chesterfield Public Library or they will not be included in the judging.
Storytelling will be scheduled for Saturday February 13th, 2010 from 9 – Noon. We may have to extend that time if we have a high volume of entries in this category. Contestants will be notified when they will present their story on that day ahead of time. The public is welcomed to attend however the audience will not be judging in anyway. The audience is expected to remain respectful and should not be disruptive or move about during any of the contestant’s stories or they will be asked to leave. Winners will be announced that day.
Stories in Cartoon Format will be displayed at the Chesterfield Public Library with winning ribbons attached. All winning poetry, Non-Fiction, and Fiction entries will be compiled into an annual booklet that will be on file at the Chesterfield Public Library. All poetry, Non-Fiction and Fiction winners will be notified during an evening with a well-known author on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 6:00 pm in the Chesterfield Town Hall.
